Contessa Nettel Costa Box

Contessa-Nettel, Costa Box (6x9) camera for roll film from ca 1920.

The Contessa-Nettel AG in Stuttgart, Germany resulted from a merger of Contessa Camerawerke and Nettel Camerawerk in the year 1919. After a time of cooperation with ICA it became part of Zeiss Ikon in 1926.

An almost exactly 100 years old camera and while looking pretty much like most box cameras from that time, it seems to sell for surprisingly high sums at auctions (it is e.g. currently for sale as "Very rare Box camera, produced in the years 1920-1924 by Contessa Nettel before being absorbed by the Zeiss Ikon" for 1600 NOK at Barnebys! Similar prices (around 100 euros or more) seem to be the common norm for this camera).

That seems overrated in my eyes, even if the camera seems to be more rare than I knew. Anyway, it`s nice and typical camera for the 1920`s and in an unusually clean condition. Apart from a minor scratch on the top corner the camera looks unused.
